Japanese
Cookery Courses
Date: Monday 25, Tuesday
26, Wednesday 27 June
Venue: Chideock
Monday 25th, 10am - 1pm. Teriyaki sauce with rice and soup
(learn the basic skill
of cooking rice, soup and making your own teriyaki dishes).
Tuesday 26th, 10am - 1pm. Tempura and Deep fried dishes (learn
how to prepare fish, seafood, to cook Tempura and deep fried breaded
dishes).
Wednesday 28th, 10am - 2pm Sushi. (learn how to prepare
sushi rice and make sushi).
Each session will take a maximum of 7 people. The cost will be £30
per person per session for Teriyaki and Tempura course and £40
for the Sushi lesson. The price includes lunch, which you will help
to create!

Gideon
Hitchin Cookery Demonstration
Date: Friday 29 June
Time: 11.00 am 12 noon
Venue: The Electric Palace, 35 South Street, Bridport, Dorset,
DT6 3NY
Gideon Hitchin, Head Chef of the Electric Palace, (former River
Cottage Chef), will present a pre-lunch food demonstration in the
Palace Auditorium. A sample menu will include:
Starter: Ceviche of fresh local fish
Main: Seasonal salads and different dressings
Sweet: Fruit mousse
Four lucky people will have the opportunity to win this lunch
prepared by Gideon.
Following this demonstration, the Electric Palace café, serving
local seasonal produce, will be open for lunch between 12 noon and
2.00 pm. There will also be an opportunity for a guided tour of
the Palace Cinema. Please arrive at the Cinema for 10.45 am for
a prompt 11.00 am start. Entry after this time cannot be guaranteed.

Fasrm - A Decade Celebration
Date: Sunday 1 July
Time: 12 noon (farm walk at 2pm, cream teas at 4pm)
Farm open day to celebrate farmer Francis Joyce's decade of remission
from cancer. To raise money for Dorset County Hospital's new cancer
department. Entrance: adults £1 children free. Bring your
own picnic to eat on the farm or buy organic soup/burgers. Please

by Mr Mark Banham, Manager, Palmers Wine Store, to include Sherborne
Castle, Sherborne and Sharpham Vineyards, Totnes.

Farmers Market regulars will be under their Umbrellas selling
local delights.
The Food and Drink
Marquee will also be highlighting local food and drink producers
and suppliers including Jessicas Farmhouse Cakes, Peppers
by Post, Olives Et Al,
Somerset Cider Brandy, H & G Land with their delicious honey,
Flying Fish Feasts,
Greenclose Cottage Jams, Bridge Farm Cider and Apple Juice.
The new Food Court will be providing hot and cold food to go and
also selling their own produce. They include Wyld Meadow Lamb and
Peaceful Poultry. The Home Grown exhibition marquee will have interactive
displays that demonstrate the role which local food, farming and
fishing industries play.
There will be an interesting display by the Bridport and District
Allotment Society.
Cream Teas will be served throughout the day by Downhouse Farm.
9.45 am The Festival will be
officially opened by Bridport Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Ackerman.

Home Grown Demonstration Marquee

am One of the foremost experts on organic vegetable gardening
Charles Dowding was a pioneer of the organic vegetable box scheme.
He will speak about how to get the best produce without the use
of chemicals or pesticides and will be signing copies of his recently
published book, Organic Gardening, The Natural No Dig Way.

Rosie Boycott, is an outspoken critic of modern farming and food

She will speak about her smallholding at Dillington Park Farm and
